The Manse

The Manse, located at 34 Maple Avenue in peaceful Warwick, New York has been the symbolic home of The Red Shutters for the past two generations. It is now the residence of Marina Case Alario, the company's third owner and chief designer.

The Manse is a Federal-style house originally built in 1795 by Deacon Fought. Fought was an engineer during the Revolutionary War, and later designed the important Old School Baptist Meeting House that still stands on Warwick's great village green. The original Manse stood until the current house replaced it in 1840.

For much of its life, The Manse served as the parsonage of the Dutch Reformed Church of Warwick. Among its residents was the Reverend Tabor Knox, the most important and longest- termed pastor of the Church. During his stint, Knox hosted numerous notables at The Manse, including the great Apache chief Geronimo.

In 1976, Michael Bertolini - the second chief designer of The Red Shutters - bought The Manse and restored it to its original style. In 2004, Marina Case Alario acquired the home from Mr. Bertolini.

The Manse is listed proudly in the National Register of Historic Places.
